Learn a method, then practise
Each new skill includes a named strategy, such as making ten, and a worked example.
Reckon
Practise mental maths through short daily lessons, worked examples, and strategies for different skills.
No rush. Work it through.
Interactive example · sample data
Reckon teaches mental arithmetic through strategies and worked examples instead of timed drills. Sessions focus on practice without leaderboards.

Reckon records a level for each skill. Daily practice can focus on a weaker skill.

Reckon treats mental maths as a set of skills that can be practised and revisited. Its learning engine chooses the work, checks answers and builds a session around the learner’s current progress.
The lesson builder mixes a focus skill with spaced review, adjacent skills and a smaller challenge component. It respects prerequisites and the areas the learner has chosen, rather than pulling questions from an undifferentiated pool. Placement records what was actually observed and uses that evidence to suggest where practice should begin.
Question generation and grading are deterministic. The learning core receives explicit seeds and dates, so the same inputs can be reproduced in tests. There is no need for a language model to decide whether an arithmetic answer is correct. Per-skill state, scheduling and lesson composition live together in the engine.
The iOS learning core is written in Swift; Android has a Kotlin port in a module that can be tested without the Android interface. SwiftUI and Compose provide the native surfaces, guided by a shared design system. Core learning works offline, with no required account or application server.
