Explore Nashik’s draft plan

Search Nashik’s unofficial November 2015 modified draft plan by village or plot number and explore it on a map.

The project brings a map, village context and plan records into one interface. It is intended to make large plan documents easier to explore on a phone.

How we built it.

Nashik DP brings a large scanned development plan into a map interface. The useful result is a place someone can search and inspect, with its source and limits still visible.

A large map delivered in small pieces

The mobile app displays OpenSeadragon inside a WebView, with native controls around it. The map reads lossless tiles from the companion web atlas, so the whole high-resolution mosaic does not have to arrive as one enormous image. Search can use plot numbers, villages, reservation purposes, site numbers or coordinates.

Evidence travels with the map

Reservation records link back to NMC report pages. The underlying material is the November 2015 modified draft, with approximate georeferencing and OCR plot numbers that can be wrong. Some reservation sites remain unlocated. Showing this context is part of the interface, because a clear-looking map must not imply legal or survey precision.

A shared atlas and mobile shell

The app uses Expo, React Native, Expo Router and TypeScript; the web atlas supplies map data, tiles and source documents. Deep links can point to a site, village, coordinate or search. Offline tile packs and a Marathi interface remain future needs rather than promises of the current case study.
